Hebron Alumni Fellowship Video |
| Josh and his nephew, Julius |
On Fathers Day 2006, I was unable to attain opiates and, due to the withdrawals, I resorted back to drinking. I ended up at a bar, got in a fight, and wound up at my parent’s house. I was searching through the garage looking for a bottle I thought I had hidden and found an old pipe bomb I had made in high school. By this time, I was a pyromaniac; I became addicted to everything and anything that would allow me to escape the reality and guilt of my life. Explosives produced adrenaline, which I used as a drug.
I was so depressed and ashamed of my life that I lit the bomb off in my hand, knowing that the shrapnel would kill me. But it didn’t. Physics can’t explain why the shrapnel missed my entire body except for my hand, but God can. In His sovereignty, He knew that some day I would be a follower of His Son, Jesus Christ, and for that reason, I believe He spared my life yet again; however, I still did not acknowledge God in my life and shrugged when I heard doctors, nurses, family, and friends say that God spared me for a reason.
For 3 more years, I was in and out of rehabs, stole from friends and family, and burned all the bridges in my life. In May of 2009, I lost my job due to my life of sin. God had shut all the doors in my life, so I could no longer continue living the way I was. I called Westbrook Church looking for help and was able to meet with a Pastor. After sharing my story with him, he looked me straight in the eyes and said, “Josh, you are 24 years old and have tried and done everything a man in addiction can do to get help, except the one thing that works, which is accepting Jesus Christ into your heart.” I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior that day and have not been the same since.
A few days later, God presented me with the opportunity to move to Indiana in order to attend a Christian-based regeneration program for men in addiction. June 3, 2009, I began my journey at Wheeler Mission Ministries and that vision I had in 2005 became a reality, as the Bible became my plan and Jesus became my leader. I graduated the program in March and stayed on for a second year to do their Servant Leadership Training program. I now serve the men in the addiction program and help teach classes on how to attain a relationship with God and how to live life by biblical principles and spiritual disciplines. The chance to stay here and mature in Christ has been the best thing I've ever done. God has blessed me beyond comprehension and with way more than I deserve. Amen.
Your Brother in Christ,
Josh

Homecomings
This incredible event began in 2008 and sees dozens of graduates of the Hebron Program return from all over the world to Camp Hunt for a weekend of fellowship and prayer. This is a great way to get refreshed, spiritually and is a popular way to stay connected with the men the alumni were side-by side with in the program.
